BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University baseball team scored seven runs in the seventh inning Saturday afternoon as they beat Chowan 9-0 to take the three-game Conference Carolinas series from the Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tornado got on the board in the third, as Jose Ruiz reached base on a walk, scoring when Corley singled, with a throwing error by the third baseman that allowed Ruiz to score, putting King in front 1-0.
- Medford started the fourth inning with a single, eventually scoring when Nuno singled to left field, giving the Tornado a 2-0 lead.
- The seventh inning is where King did damage, scoring seven runs on four hits, including the bases-clearing triple by Starrs, as well as an RBI single from Borchardt.
- Roper also scored a run after a Chowan balk was called, with Starrs executing a double steal, making the score 9-0.
- The only hits that Hunley allowed were singles in the fifth and sixth, but the King defense was able to hold the Hawks off the board.
FOR THE FOES
- Geomar Santana and Ryan Bellamy had the only hits on the day for Chowan.
- Nicholas Mason and Gabe King both had scoreless relief innings, with Mason recording a pair of strikeouts
