Winston-Salem, N.C. – The King University team went to the VWS College Kick-off track meet for the first competition of the 2025-26 season with many top 10 placers.
Men's Track and Field Team:
Dominick Stevens ran a personal record in the 60-meter in 6.82 and the meet record, as well as personal best, in the 200-meter with a time of 21.61. His 6.82 in the 60 also hit the NCAA provisional qualifying standard.
Lynden Johnson finished fifth in the 60-meter with a time of 6.83.
Other top eight finishes:
- Thomas Grant earned seventh in the 200-meter with a 22.21
- Nathan Rosson earned sixth in Pole Vault with a height of 4.10 meters (13-05.25 ft)
Women's Track and Field Team:
Freshman
Savannah Darnell, in her first meet in the King uniform, was able to place tenth in the High Jump, clearing a mark of 1.54 meters (5-00.5 ft).
Other notable performances were by
Savannah Darnell, placing 21st in the 60m with a time of 7.85. Ermay Vazquez and
Emily Ward, placing 20 and 26, respectively, in the Mile with times of 5:29.89 and 5:38.83.

The Tornado will be competing next at the Liberty Open on January 23 and 24.
