King Women’s Wrestling Shines at North Central College Invitational

The King University women’s wrestling team delivered a strong showing at the North Central College Invitational, highlighted by two first-place finishes and multiple podium performances. The Tornado wrestlers demonstrated resilience and skill against tough competition, with standout victories across several weight classes.

Naperville, Ill. – The King University women's wrestling team delivered a strong showing at the North Central College Invitational, highlighted by two first-place finishes and multiple podium performances. Steigler and Bommarito Claim Titles
At 160 pounds, Stella Steigler captured first place with an impressive run through her bracket. Steigler opened with a fall over Celina Cooke (4–0), followed by a hard-fought 6–3 decision against Kali Manuel. She continued her momentum with a 6–2 fall over Sydney Perry before sealing the championship with a 7–1 decision over Daniella Nugent.
In the 207-pound division, Eliana Bommarito also claimed first place. Bommarito dominated Tirza Twoteeth with a 10–0 technical fall, then defeated Caroline Ward in a 2–0 fall. She capped her tournament with a 4–0 fall against Jayleen Sekona to secure the title.

Foard Earns Runner-Up at 131 lbs
Virginia Foard delivered a strong performance at 131 pounds, finishing second overall. Foard opened with three consecutive falls, defeating Layla Morris (4–0), Kailey Benson (6–0), and Bella Williams (6–0). In the finals, she fell to Mia Friesen in a 14–4 bout, earning the runner-up spot.
Julien-Newsom Places Sixth at 131 lbs
Teammate Rudy Julien-Newsom also competed in the 131-pound bracket, finishing sixth. Julien-Newsom picked up early wins with a fall over Mia Goodwin (6–0) and a 12–0 technical fall against Shelby Kemp. She later added an 11–0 tech fall over Hania Halverson but dropped decisions to Mia Friesen (8–2) and Bella Williams (8–2) to close her run.
Kolozsy Battles at 180 lbs
At 180 pounds, Jocelyn Kolozsy showcased grit throughout her matches. She opened with a fall over Nahomi Marmolejo (6–0) before falling to Josephine Larson in a 10–0 tech fall. Kolozsy rebounded with a 10–0 tech fall against Jessica Komolafe and earned a 13–7 decision over Laynie Vaughan. Her tournament concluded with a narrow 2–0 fall loss to Madison Crawford.
