CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The King University men's wrestling team went 1-2 on the first day of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals, with a win over #25 Maryville in their second match of the day. All three duals came against teams ranked in the NWCA Coaches Top-25 poll.

HOW IT HAPPENED - #1 St. Cloud State
- The Huskies won the first two bouts before Ashtan Hendricks pinned #6 Alyeus Craig in 4:21 to cut the lead to 12-6.
- After St. Cloud State won the next four matches, Ethan Lopez earned an 8-5 decision at 184 pounds.
- The Huskies took both of the final two matches via decision, winning 33-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED - #25 Maryville
- The dual started at 125 pounds, where Tyson Upchurch pinned Sam Shafer in 3:39 to put King in front 6-0.
- Maryville took the next two bouts before Brennan Watkins won via pin at 149 pounds, which was followed by Trent Mahoney winning a 16-1 tech fall, stretching the Tornado lead to 17-7.
- Lopez eaned another win at 184 pounds, pinning his opponent in 6:23 before David Bertrand won a 10-4 decision at 197 pounds to clinch a dual win for the Tornado.
HOW IT HAPPENED - #3 Wisconsin-Parkside
- The Rangers won the first four bouts, before Mahoney pinned his opponent in 5:00 at 157 pounds, getting the Tornado on the board, trailing 19-6.
- At 174 pounds, Morrisette won a 11-3 major decision, while David Bertrand won a 7-4 decision at 197 pounds.
- Wisconsin-Parkside won seven of the bouts, winning the dual 30-13.
