MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The King University baseball team won a high-scoring 23-13 affair over Chowan University Sunday afternoon, with the Tornado scoring 11 runs in the fifth en route to their second-highest scoring game of the season.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Starrs hit a solo home run in the first, putting King in front 1-0 before the Hawks scored two in the bottom to pull in front.
- In the third, Truman Roper led off with a infield single, scoring when Borchardt hit a single to right field.
- A couple batters later, Conner Hyatt singled, reaching base on a throwing error by the shortstop, with Starrs and Borchardt scoring to put King in front 4-2.
- The Hawks pulled back in front in the bottom of the inning, taking a 6-4 lead.
- King then scored 11 runs in the fourth, with Evans hitting a grand slam, while Starrs had a three-run homer, his second home run of the day as the Tornado pulled in front 15-6.
- After Chowan scored six runs in their half of the fifth and the Tornado added a run in the sixth, they scored five in the seventh, with Evans starting the inning with a solo home run, followed a short time later by a two-run triple from Borchardt that stretched the lead to 20-12.
- Starrs added another home run, his third of the game, making it a 22-12 lead.
- A wild pitch in the eighth extended the lead to 23-13.
FOR THE FOES
- The Hawks got home runs from Dawerlyn Amanico and Tyler West, both of whom had four RBI on the day.
- Ryan Bellamy was 3-for-6 at the plate, with an RBI and a run scored.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The three-home run game from Starrs is the fourth in the NCAA Division II era, and it's the first time since April 9, 2016 that it has happened for the Tornado.
- This is the second time this season that King has scored 20+ runs, marking just the second time in the Division II era they have done that. The last time was the 2015 season.
