BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's basketball team swept the Conference Carolinas final weekly awards of the season.
Jordan Akal took home offensive player of the week honors while
Mikhail Pocknett earned the defensive player of the week award.
Akal was spectacular in the season finale against rival Lees-McRae College. He poured in a career-high 36 points on 10-for-19 shooting, including 7-for-15 from long range. He also went 9-for-10 from the free throw line, snared seven rebounds to go along with two assists, two steals and one block. The seven triples in a game is the fourth most in school history.
Pocknett was solid on the defensive end against rival Lees-McRae, posting five steals and one block. He added a pair of rebounds.
The marks Akal's second weekly award, and first offensive as he was tabbed defensive player of the week on January 16. For Pocknett, this is his second defensive player of the week award, also earning that distinction on February 5.
