BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Mikhail Pocknett of the King University men's basketball team and
Nathan Borchardt of the King University Baseball team were chosen as Conference Carolinas Freshmen of the Month for February.
Pocknett, a freshman from Wilmington, N.C., started all eight games he played in during the month, averaging 20 points and eight rebounds per game, along with two steals and 0.9 blocks. He also posted three double-doubles on the month. Feb. 3 against North Greenville, he had 18 points and 10 rebounds, before 10 days later scoring 25 points with 10 rebounds against Converse, He scored 20+ points four times, including a 30-point performance at Belmont Abbey.
Borchardt, a freshman from Stanley, N.C., started 16 games in February, compiling a .339 batting average. He had two doubles and five RBI, along with an OPS of .797. He was 3-for-4 in stolen base attempts, including a pair of successful steals Feb. 18 against Davis & Elkins. He also had five multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit games against UVA Wise on Feb. 13 and Tusculum on Feb. 27.
