Mikhail Pocknett of the King University men's basketball team was selected Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month following a stellar month of January.
The freshman started all nine games for the Tornado, averaging 18.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He posted five double-doubles during the month and a season-high five steals on January 30 in a win at Lees-McRae College while scoring 18 points. Earlier that week he scored 28 points and added 11 rebounds against the University of Mount Olive. For the month he reached double figures in points in all but one game when he tallied nine points.
