LEXINGTON, Va. – The King University men's wrestling team took down NCAA Division I VMI Saturday evening, 20-18 as part of the VMI duals. The Tornado also faced Edinboro, falling 44-3 to start the day. The win over VMI is the first time in recorded history that King has beaten a NCAA Division I program.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Edinboro
- The lone Tornado win came at 165 pounds, where Trent Mahoney won a 10-3 decision over Maxwell Kirby.
- Edinboro won all nine other bouts, with two pins and five tech falls as they rolled to a 44-3 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED - VMI
- The Keydets won the first two bouts, taking a 7-0 lead before Ashtan Hendricks earned a 10-8 win over Wayne Rold to get King on the board.
- After a VMI win at 149 pounds, The Tornado won three straight, including major decision wins by Joe Bertrand and Clint Morrisette, along with an overtime win by Mahoney at 165 pounds.
- At 197 pounds, Nathan Coley won a second period pin, putting the Tornado in front 20-15 heading into the 285-pound match.
- At 285 pounds, VMI won a 2-0 decision, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tornado, who held on for a 20-18 road win.
