Gracia Love, with
Princess Emma Oluwa adding 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- King took a 7-6 lead in the set after scoring five of six points, though the Patriots would score seven of the next eight to take a 13-8 lead.
- The Tornado then pulled to within 15-14 after a 4-0 scoring run, but Francis Marion took a 19-15 lead into a King timeout.
- Coming out of the timeout, the Patriots opened a 23-17 lead after a pair of kills and a service ace, before winning 25-19.
Second Set
- The Tornado took an early 3-2 lead and held it until the Patriots went on a scoring run of seven out of eight points, taking an 11-8 advantage.
- Francis Marion continued to extend their lead, building it to an 18-12 lead, which forced King to call a timeout.
- After the break, Gracia and Kylie Love teamed up for a pair of kills, bringing the Tornado to within 19-14.
- The Francis Marion lead reached 23-15, at which point the Tornado started to claw their way back into things, scoring two straight points on Francis Marion errors before a K. Love service ace made it 23-18, though the Patriots won the final two points, winning the set 25-18 and taking a 2-0 match lead.
Third Set
- The Patriots took an early 4-1 lead, which quickly diminished to 6-5 after King got three kills from G. Love and one from Capri Johnson.
- A 7-2 scoring run by the Patriots extended their lead to 13-7, at which point the Tornado called their first timeout of the set.
- King was able to work their way back to within 20-18, thanks in part to a 5-1 King scoring run where Riley Nelson had a pair of kills.
- The Patriots scored five of the final eight points, winning the set 25-21, and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- G. Love and Oluwa were the two Tornado who had double-digit kills, with Oluwa adding a service ace and five digs on the night.
- K. Love led the Tornado with 34 set assists, along with a service ace.
FOR THE FOES
- Kaitlyn Smart had 11 kills for the Patriots, as well as a set assist and a block assist.
- Caroline Lucas and Camryn Faggart both had nine kills.
UP NEXT
- King will host UNC Pembroke Saturday at 2 p.m. inside the Student Center. Prior to the match, King will honor their senior class.
