Turner named Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Kenny Turner of the King University men's basketball team has been named the Conference Carolinas men's basketball defensive Player of the Week, the first time this season he has earned a conference-level award.

Turner, a junior from Coral Springs, Fla., had seven blocks in the three games for the Tornado last week, averaging 11.3 rebounds per game. He started with 10 rebounds and two blocks in a win at Southern Wesleyan before grabbing 10 rebounds in a home win over Erskine. He closed the week with 14 rebounds and a season-high four blocks against Mount Olive. He had a pair of double-doubles on the week while averaging 15.3 points per game, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor.

This is the second time in his career that Turner has been named conference defensive player of the week, having earned the honor Nov. 28, 2022.

The Tornado will be back on the court Tuesday night when they make the short trip to face Lees-McRae College with Blue Ridge Cup points on the line. Tipoff from Banner Elk, N.C. is scheduled for 7 p.m.
