Price tabbed as King women's volleyball head coach

BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University vice president for athletics, David Hicks announced the hire of Haley Price as head women's volleyball coach today.

"Haley has coached and competed at every level of volleyball, and has excelled at every stop," Hicks said. "She's taking over a program with a deep and strong championship tradition, and I'm excited to watch her inspire our student-athletes to continued levels of success. Haley's commitment to developing and mentoring student-athletes in a Christian environment is evident, and she is the ideal person to lead our student-athletes to success on and off the court."

Price most recently spent the 2023 season as an assistant coach at East Tennessee State University.

Prior to that, she spent two seasons as an assistant coach at California State University San Marcos where she helped the Cougars compete in one of the most competitive leagues in NCAA Division II. While there she helped the Cougars record the best team GPA in program history, 3.599. She helped four players earn all-conference honors, two academic all-conference honorees as well as two student-athletes of the month.

"I am very grateful to accept the head coaching position for King University women's volleyball program," Price said. "I want to thank David Hicks and the exceptional search committee for giving me the opportunity to lead such a historically proud program. I also want to thank the King University volleyball family - both past and present - for their support and belief as we enter a new era for the program. King's mission and values will serve as integral pillars that we will use to establish our core values as we continue to build a program this university and community will be proud to support. I am thrilled to get started and look forward to representing King! Go Tornado!"

Prior to that, she served as the head coach at Louisburg College in Louisburg, N.C. While there she also served as the assistant club director and head coach for NC Elite Volleyball Club.

Price got her start in coaching in the Tri-Cities, leading Tri-Cities Extreme Volleyball Club from 2017-20. She also served as the head coach at Dobyns-Bennett High School from 2019-20 where she led the Indians to a third-place finish at the TSSAA championships with a 38-10 record in 2019. She was selected Big 6 District I AAA Coach of the Year and coached to all-state, four all-region and six all-conference players.

As an athlete, Price was a libero/defensive specialist at Virginia Tech University from 2015-18 after earning all-state honors in Tennessee as a junior.

Price graduated from Virginia Tech in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Neuroscience and is currently working on her Master of Arts in Special Education from Liberty University.
