Abigale Jayne had seven kills, while
Faith Morse had 15 digs for the King University women's volleyball team Saturday morning in a 3-0 loss to Bluefield State University at the Mars Hill University Tony Fontanelle Memorial Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The Big Blue took an early 5-1 lead, with Abigale Jayne picking up the kill for King.
- After Bluefield State opened the lead up to 9-4, King scored three in a row, with Katie Harless starting things with a kill, eventually pulling the Tornado to within 9-7.
- King continued to put pressure on the Big Blue before tying the set at 14 after three straight King points.
- The Tornado took their first lead of the set at 16-15 off a Bluefield State attack error.
- After the score was tied at 19, Bluefield State would score six of the final eight points to take a 25-21 set win.
Second Set
- The Tornado fell behind early 6-1 before Jayne picked up a kill to get the Tornado to within 6-2.
- Bluefield State eventually stretched their lead to 14-5 before kills by Abigail Belcher and Bailey Fersner put King on a roll, which would end with King pulling to within 16-11.
- King got a handful of points off attack errors by the Big Blue, but were unable to close the gap as Bluefield State won 25-16, going up 2-0 in the match.
Third Set
- After the Big Blue raced out to a 11-4 lead, the Tornado would score three of the next four points, including a kill by Gracia Love to bring the Tornado to within 12-7.
- The lead eventually reached 18-9 before a King run that saw the score four in a row, including another kill by Jayne and a block by Belcher and Izzy Krick to pull to within 18-13.
- Trailing 22-15, it was Harless who kickstarted another scoring run for the Tornado, as her kill started a 4-0 run that also featured kills by Fersner and Love, making the score 22-19.
- The Big Blue would score three of the final four points however to take the set 25-20, and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Jayne led the Tornado attack, with seven kills along with a set assist and a block assist.
- Faith Morse and Bailey Fersner both had double-digit digs, with Morse leading the way with 15 and Fersner contributing 11.
FOR THE FOES
- Allyson Martin and Imani Stokes both had 10 kills for Bluefield State, with Martin also recording a match-high 16 digs.
- Kateryna Dashevska had 35 assists, along with a service ace.

- The Tornado will wrap up the Mars Hill tournament this afternoon when they face the host Lions. First serve is set for approximately 4:45 p.m.
