SALISBURY, N.C. – The King University women's soccer team opened their season with a stiff test, at 20th-ranked Catawba College. The Tornado stayed with the Indians for the first 40 minutes, but Catawba scored twice in the final five minutes of the opening half. Catawba added five goals in the second half to take the contest 7-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kristal Garcia posted a pair of saves in the opening 20 minutes to keep the Indians off the board.
- In the 21st minute, Mackenzie Winters had a scoring chance for the Tornado, but the Catawba goalkeeper came up with a save.
- Garcia accounted for two more saves before Kelly Havens found the back of the net for Catawba in the 39th minute.
- Kylie Morin added another for the Indians in the 41st minute to give Catawba a 2-0 lead at the half.
- Catawba added another in the 58th minute from Bree Ehmer before Garcia came up with two more saves for the Tornado.
- The Indians added four goals over the final 20 minutes to take the contest 7-0.

- The Tornado received shots from Winters and Gretchen Grambow in the contest.
- Garcia made 10 saves in goal.
- King registered two corner kicks in the second half.
