FLORENCE, S.C. – The King University women's soccer team opened Conference Carolinas play on the road at Francis Marion University on Saturday afternoon. The Patriot defense was stifling, holding the Tornado to only four shots on the day. On the other side of the field, Francis Marion scored three goals to top King 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Francis Marion had the first scoring opportunity of the contest, coming on a shot in the 18th minute.
- The Patriots made the shot count as Kristina Syragakis found Ashley Jordan following a throw in who buried her shots from 19 yards out to give Francis Marion the 1-0 lead.
- The Tornado deficit grew to 2-0 in the 22nd minute as Syragakis headed a cross from Joy Brockman to Haley Sink on the back post who slide the ball into the goal.
- Francis Marion took four more shots in the half, two three turned away by King goalkeeper Kristal Garcia.
- The Tornado were held without a shot, but earned one corner kick while the Patriots took four corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes.
- Francis Marion had a pair of shots in the opening five minutes, and another in the 59th minute, but all were turned away by Garcia.
- Mackenzie Winters took the first shot of the contest for the Tornado, coming in the 62nd minute, but it was wide left.
- Francis Marion's Syragakis made it a 3-0 Patriot lead with a penalty kick goal in the 78 minute.
- King had a pair of shots in the final five minutes as Ella Froehlich and Taylor Stubbs placed shots on target, but both were turned away by the Francis Marion goalkeeper.
