BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University head men's and women's volleyball coach
Ryan Booher has announced the hire of
Julie Danner as an assistant coach for both teams.
"I am excited to have Julie come back and be a coach of our programs," Booher said. "She gave everything as a student-athlete and am excited for her to bring passion and love for King volleyball. She is a great addition for the coaching staff."
Danner is one of the most decorated Tornado women's volleyball players as she led the Tornado to their first Conference Carolinas Tournament title in the spring of 2021. At the time of her graduation, Danner was King's NCAA era leader in attack attempts and total points. She also ranked in the school's top 10 in 12 other categories, including second in kills, points per set and reception percentage.
"King holds a big place in my heart," said Danner. "The culture and family atmosphere are what sold me to play here. I am excited to become part of the coaching staff and continue to be part of such great volleyball programs. Coming back to King to be an assistant coach is a great honor."
She was selected first team All-Conference Carolinas three-times and garnered second team honors in 2021. Danner was named Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year in 2018, a season before garnering Conference Carolinas Player of the Year honors. In 2020 she was named the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship Most Valuable Player. In 2019, Danner earned all-region and honorable mention All-America honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
Danner graduated from King in 2022 with a degrees in psychology and mathematics.
