EMORY, Va. – The King University baseball team dropped a nonconference contest, 19-5 to Emory & Henry College Tuesday afternoon.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Mason Swartz hit a two-run home run in his lone at-bat of the day.
- Jake Lathrop went 2-for-5, with an RBI, double, home run and two runs scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- King got on the board first, as Lathrop started the second with a double down the left field line, eventually scoring when Nick Valentin hit a sacrifice fly, putting King in front 1-0.
- The Wasps would score two of their own in the bottom of the second before adding four more in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead.
- King was trailing 10-1 in the top of the eighth when Lathrop hit his home run, a solo shot to left field for his second extra-base hit of the game.
- Emory & Henry then put up nine runs onsix hits in the bottom of the frame to extend their lead to 19-2.
- In the top of the ninth, Jace Spivey reached base on an error by the shortstop, setting up Swartz to make a pinch-hitting appearance, hitting a home run to left field to make the score 19-4.
- King added one more run in the inning, as Patrick Corley advanced to second on a throwing error by the third baseman, scoring from second when Chase Hilliard singled to right center field.
- The Tornado would see their final two batters retired, with the Wasps closing the game to take the win.
FOR THE FOES
- Wayne Mize and Triston Hensley both bit home runs on the day, while Tyler Bradley and Jermie Greene, Jr. both hit triples.
- The Wasps hit six doubles, with Greene Jr. responsible for two of them, along with three RBI.
- Andrew Parr threw seven innings, allowing one earned run on five hits to pick up his third win of the season.
