Tornado fall on the road to Hawks

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The King University women's tennis team won a pair of doubles matches Friday afternoon, but were unable to overcome Chowan University, falling 6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Deniz Aytun and Mishka Koricinova took the win at the top doubles flight, 6-4 before Mireia Mas Ortega and Neem Shamsuddin won at no. 2 doubles by the same 6-4 score to clinch the doubles point.
  • Koricinova forced a first set tiebreaker in her match at no. 2 singles before dropping a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 decision.
  • At no. 3 singles, Shamsuddin forced a third set after picking up a 6-2 win in the second set, but ultimately fell 6-4, 2-6, 6-4).
  • Chowan would also pick up wins at no. 1 singles and no. 4 singles to claim the match.
UP NEXT
  • King will play their final road match of the season Saturday, facing Barton College at 1 p.m.
  • Chowan will host Lees-McRae Saturday morning.
