Allen named Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Ashley Allen of the King University women's basketball team has been chosen as the Conference Carolinas women's basketball Defensive Player of the Week. This is her first career weekly honor from the conference office.

Allen, a sophomore from Sterling, Va., played in all three games the Tornado played last week, averaging 3.0 steals, 7.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She started her week by recording two steals and seven rebounds against Converse before posting seven steals and eight rebounds against Chowan. Five of her rebounds from the Chowan game came on the defensive end, while also dropping 16 points, which ties her career best.

With just one game left in the regular season, Allen ranks fourth in the conference, with an average of 2.00 steals per game. She is also averaging 6.2 rebounds per game, with an average of 3.7 defensive rebounds per game.

The Tornado will close the regular season Wednesday night, when they host Southern Wesleyan University at 5 p.m. After that, the Tornado will turn their sights to the Atlantic Casualty Insurance Company Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championships. The Tornado will find out their seed, and first round matchup following Wednesday night's games.
