BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Mikhail Pocknett of the King University men's basketball team was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) men's basketball player of the week Tuesday after scoring a career-high 33 points Thursday at Emory & Henry.
Pocknett, a freshman from Wilmington, N.C., led all scorers in the game against the Wasps, finishing with 33 points. He also had five rebounds while shooting 12-for-23 from the field and 9-of-16 from the free throw line.
On the season, Pocknett is averaging 19.7 points per game, which is third-most in Conference Carolinas. He has scored in double figures in two of the three games he has played thus far and averages 4.3 rebounds per game.
The Tornado will be back on the court Saturday for their home opener, when they host #17 Lincoln Memorial University, with tipoff from inside the Student Center set for 4 p.m.
