BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Kristal Garcia of the King University women's soccer team and
Hailee Blankenship of the King University women's volleyball teams have been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Players of the Week.
Garcia, a senior from Orlando, Fla., made 18 saves in two matches played last week, including a 10-save performance in a critical 3-2 win over North Greenville on senior day. She also had eight saves in a road contest at Lees-McRae earlier in the week.
Blankenship, a senior from Goode, Va., played in eight sets, averaging 5.13 kills and 4.13 digs per set. She had a double-double in both matches, including 18 kills and 18 digs in a three-set win over Belmont Abbey. Saturday at Converse she had 23 kills and 15 digs, her second straight double-double, and her 10th of the season.
Both Tornado teams are in action tonight. Women's soccer is on the road, taking on Belmont Abbey at 4:30 p.m. while women's volleyball will host Concord in nonconference play at 6 p.m.
