BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Taylor Stubbs of the King University women's soccer team and
Åasmund Norum of the King University men's golf team have been chosen as the Delta Blues King Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Student-Athletes of the Month for September.
Stubbs, a senior from Murrieta, Calif., started all eight games for the Tornado, averaging 1.00 goal and 2.13 points per game. Had four goals Sept. 27 in a 6-3 win over Lees-McRae, tying her for most goals scored in a match in the NCAA Division II era. Had two goals Sept. 20 at Converse, including the game-winning penalty kick goal in the 88th minute. Also scored a goal against USC Beaufort and at Bluefield State.
Norum, a junior from Inderoy, Norway, finished under par at both tournaments King played in. Won his first collegiate tournament at the King University Invitational, where he shot a second round 65, which is believed to be the lowest round in the NCAA Division II era for the Tornado. He started the tournament with a one-under 69, winning the event by two strokes. With the win, he became the second Tornado in three years to win the tournament. Norum also finished 21st at the season-opening Bearcat Fall Invitational, carding a one-under par 215, including a third round 67.
