CENTRAL, S.C. – The King University women's volleyball team suffered a Conference Carolinas matchup Saturday, 3-0 to Southern Wesleyan University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Neither team was able to get a very large lead, with the largest lead being a 7-4 King advantage to cap off what was a 3-0 scoring run.
- Southern Wesleyan came back, tying the set at nine before edging ahead 10-9.
- A kill by Hailee Blankenship, along with an attack error by the Warriors gave the Tornado a 17-15 lead.
- King called a timeout after SWU worked their way to a 23-20 advantage, but were unable to rally their way back, with the Warriors winning the set 25-23.
Second Set
- Southern Wesleyan scored the first three points of the set before Gracia Love came up with a kill.
- The Warriors stretched their lead to 6-3 before King came storming back, going on a 4-1 scoring run to tie the set at seven.
- Southern Wesleyan then scored the next three points, pulling in front 10-7.
- After the lead reached 13-9, the Tornado scored the next three points, getting to within 13-12.
- The Tornado were able to tie the set at 17, but the Warriors quickly worked their way to a 21-17 advantage.
- King stayed close, eventually tying the set at 23 before Southern Wesleyan scored the final two points to win the set, 25-23.
Third Set
- Southern Wesleyan took an early 5-4 lead, though the Tornado kept things close, eventually using a 4-0 scoring run to take a 11-9 lead.
- After the Warriors tied the set at 15, the Tornado went on a 5-1 scoring run to take a 20-16 lead, with Bailey Fersner capping the run with a kill.
- Abigail Belcher came up with a kill to extend the Tornado lead to 23-19, but the Warriors went on a 7-1 scoring run to take the set 26-24, and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Blankenship led the Tornado with eight kills, with Fersner adding seven.
- Katie Harless handed out 22 assists and had 13 digs, tying her with Gabri Puertas.
FOR THE FOES
- Michaela Andress posted a double-double for Southern Wesleyan, finishing with 11 kills and 10 digs.
- Faith Paxton had 17 digs, while Ellie Johnson had 13.
- Hannah Wilson had 23 assists.
UP NEXT
- The Tornado will return to Bristol Wednesday for a matchup with Belmont Abbey College, with first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.
