MARS HILL, N.C. – The King University women's volleyball team ended their weekend with a sweep of Coker University. The Tornado took the first set easily before going to extra points to win the second set. King then took the third set for the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The Tornado started the match with kills from Riley Nelson and Zephanie Snyder as King scored the first five points of the match.
- King later used a 7-2 run, including four straight to take a 17-6 advantage. Julie Danner had two kills while Hailee Blankenship start the spurt with a kill.
- The Tornado then scored six of the final seven points to take the set 25-14 on a Blankenship termination.
Second Set
- King used three straight points to take an 8-3 lead following a Paula La Mendola service ace.
- However, Coker later went on a 4-0 run to even the tally at 11.
- Another 4-0 Cobra run put the Tornado behind 17-14, but Kara Miller started a King run with a kill.
- Following a Blankenship ace, a block from Miller and Katie Harless evened the score at 17.
- The Tornado trailed 23-20 and 24-22, but evened the score on kills from Danner and Blankenship.
- A block from Blankenship and Miller gave King a 25-24 advantage.
- Following a Cobra point, Blankenship came up with back-to-back terminations to give King the win 27-25.
Third Set
- Blankenship started a 4-0 King run with a kill before a Snyder kill gave the Tornado a 6-3 lead.
- However, six straight Cobra points gave Coker a 9-6 advantage.
- King gradually fought back and evened the score at 11 before using a 6-0 run to take an 18-13 lead.
- Jersey Wines posted three aces on the run while Danner, Blankenship and Snyder accounted for kills.
- La Mendola later gave King the 25-19 victory with a kill as King took the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Blankenship led the way for the Tornado with 16 kills while hitting .353 and adding six digs.
- Danner followed with 15 kills and seven digs. Danner hit .364 in the match as well.
- Harless handed out 42 assists and added eight digs.
- Claire Wilson led the back row with 16 digs while Wines added 10 digs and seven service aces.
FOR THE FOES
- Naomi Earl-Reyes led the way for Coker with nine kills while Taylor hills added eight kills.
- Adriana Velez posted 15 assists while Lauren Loveday added 17 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The seven aces for Wines is the third most in a three-set match in the NCAA Division II era.

- King returns home to take on Bluefield State University on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
- Coker travels to Wingate University on Tuesday night.
