King announces 2023 softball schedule

BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University softball head coach Kyleigh Payne has announced the 2023 schedule for the Tornado. The reigning Conference Carolinas champions will have a tough nonconference schedule for the 2023 season that opens at home on February 8.

The season-opening doubleheader will pit a pair of 2022 NCAA Division II Regional participants as the Tornado will take on perennial southeast region power Lenoir-Rhyne. That is one of six 2022 regional participants the Tornado will face. King will also take on the two super regional participants from the southeast region in Lincoln Memorial University and the University of North Georgia. The other regional opponents King will go toe-to-toe with are Anderson University, Francis Marion University and Nova Southeastern University.

King begins the defense of their Conference Carolinas crown on March 18 at Converse University before their conference home-opener on March 24 against Francis Marion. The Tornado close the regular season at home with games against UNC Pembroke and the University of Mount Olive.

The Conference Carolinas Softball Championship is scheduled for April 27-30 at Tyger River Park in Duncan, S.C. for the third straight season.
