BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's tennis team opened Conference Carolinas play Saturday afternoon, falling to Converse University 4-3 on the strength of three singles wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mireia Mas Ortega and Marilyn Roustand picked up a 6-4 win at no. 2 doubles, but Converse took no. 1 and no. 3 singles to take the point.
- The Tornado won the first two flights in singles action, with Deniz Aytun winning 6-4, 6-1 at no. 1 singles and Mishka Koricinova winning 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at no. 2 singles.
- After Converse won at no. 3 singles, Roustand won at no. 4 singles 6-1, 6-3.
- The Valkyries would take the final two flights, despite Mas Ortega winning the first set 6-2 at no. 5 singles.
