BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University baseball team received a solid pitching performance from
Jakob Brown in their 8-3 game one win over Emory & Henry College on Saturday afternoon. However, the Wasps came back to win game two 13-2, earning the split. The Tornado won the season-opening four-game set 3-1.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Emory & Henry manufactured a run in the first following a leadoff walk. Jared Foley moved to second on a groundout, the stole third and scored on a throwing error, giving the Wasps the 1-0 lead.
- The Wasps looked to add on in the third with the bases loaded and one out, but Brown induced a ground ball. The Tornado turned a double play to escape the jam.
- Chase Hilliard started the bottom of the third with a single to right center and later scored on a Scott two-out single to even the score.
- Andrews followed with a single to center that scored Junior Renwick before Jack Flanagan worked a bases loaded walk to give King a 3-1 lead.
- Emory & Henry started the fourth inning with a single and a walk before a Triston Hensley double scored both to even the tally at three.
- Following an Ethan Hawkins walk in the bottom of the inning, Backus laced a double to left center, scoring Hawkins, and giving the lead back to the Tornado.
- King put the game out of reach with four runs in the sixth inning as the first two scored on a throwing error following a Backus sacrifice bunt.
- Andrews drove in another with a sacrifice fly before a double steal gave King an 8-3 lead.
- That was all Brown needed as he retired the side in order in the top of the seventh, earning is first career complete game.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Emory & Henry again grabbed an early lead as a one-out double from Cas Blevins came around to score on a groundout, giving the Wasps the 1-0 lead.
- The Tornado offense was held down by Justin Day as he didn't allow a Tornado base runner until the third inning and didn't allow a hit until the fourth frame.
- The Wasp offense added four runs in the second, three on run scoring singles and another on an error to take a 5-0 lead.
- Emory & Henry extended their lead to 11-0 with six runs in the fourth inning. The frame was highlighted by a two-run single from Hayden Milley and a two-run double from Sean Davis-Cherry.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning, Renwick worked a leadoff walk and moved to third on a Scott single. Renwick then scored on an Andrews sacrifice fly to get the Tornado on the board.
- Trailing 12-1 in the sixth, back-to-back pinch-hit doubles from Derek Martin and Hutcherson cut the King deficit to 12-2.
- However, the Wasps added another run in the seventh to take the contest 13-2.

FOR THE FOES
- The Wasps were led by three-hit days from Hensley, Kolby Anderson and Milley.
- Milley drove in four to lead the Wasps while Hensley added three runs batted in.

- King travels to Carson-Newman University on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch from Jefferson City, Tenn., is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
- Emory & Henry hosts UVA Wise on Saturday.
