GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The King University men's wrestling team opened their 2022-23 season with three wins at the Pioneer Duals Saturday afternoon. Among the wins for the Tornado was a 46-6 win over regional foe Emory & Henry.

HOW IT HAPPENED – King 46, Emory & Henry 6
- The Tornado started the dual with back-to-back wins, including a fall by Preston Soriano at 125 pounds.
- After the Wasps won at 141, the Tornado would win the final seven bouts of the match, with Demetri Teddlie (149), Trent Mahoney (157) and Bo Perkins (165) all winning via fall.
- King closed the dual with a pair of decision wins for Jacob Ebner (197) and Jacob Telles (285) to take a 46-6 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED - #16 Ashland 27, King 15
- Soriano again started the Tornado with a win, earning a hard-fought 7-6 win at 125 pounds.
- Ashland would win back-to-back bouts to take a 6-3 lead into the 149-pound match, which was a 6-3 win for Teddlie, setting off a stretch of three straight wins via decision for King.
- After Ashland won three straight, Telles closed the match with his second win of the day, 3-1 in sudden victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED – King 44, Davis & Elkins 12
- Franky Medina got the Tornado on the board with a win via forfeit at 133 pounds, before the Tornado would win the next two matches via fall to take a 12-6 lead.
- King would then win the next six matches to take a 38-6 lead.
- After a win for Davis & Elkins at 197 pounds, Telles picked up his first win via fall of the season, clinching a 44-12 win for the Tornado.
HOW IT HAPPENED – King 35, Seton Hill 18
- Soriano and Medina both picked up bonus point wins to start the dual, with Soriano winning via fall in under a minute.
- Seton Hill would win via fall at 141 pounds before King rattled off three straight wins via first period pins to take a 29-6 lead.
- After a double forfeit at 174 pounds and a pair of Seton Hill wins, Telles closed the dual by claiming a win via forfeit, with the Tornado taking the dual 35-18.
HOW IT HAPPENED – RV Glenville State 34, King 18
- After dropping the first two bouts, Nico Crosnoe picked up a big win at 141 pounds, pinning his opponent in 4:13 to get the Tornado on the board.
- Teddlie then followed with a first period pin of his own to give the Tornado a 12-10 advantage, which they stretched to 18-10 after a forfeit at 157 pounds.
- Glenville State would then win the final five bouts, to claim a 34-18 win.

- The Tornado will open South Atlantic Conference Carolinas action Wednesday night, when they host Lander University inside the Student Center Complex, with first whistle set for 7:00 p.m.
