BRISTOL, Tenn. – Playing their third game in three days, and fourth in five days, the King University men's basketball team topped Erskine College on Wednesday night. The Tornado built a lead late in the first half and used that cushion to take the 89-72 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
- Erskine held the advantage early, but King worked their way back and evened the tally on an MJ Foust three-point play.
- That was part of a 7-0 run that vaulted the Tornado into an 11-7 advantage.
- King continued the run, taking a 16-9 lead following the 12-2 spurt and jump shot from Michael Mays.
- The Flying Fleet kept it close the opening 12 minutes, pulling back within 24-22 with eight minutes remaining.
- However, King pulled away down the stretch, outscoring the Flying Fleet 26-16 over the final eight minutes.
- The run started with six straight points, all on free throws, four from Desmond Davis and two from Isaiah Curry.
- A Darron Howard basket and a pair of Connor Jordan free throws gave King the final four points of the half and a 50-38 lead at the break.
Second Half
- King pulled away in the middle of the second half, using a 12-0 run to take a 69-49 lead.
- Brandon Lamberth contributed four points, Foust added five and Michael Mays drilled a triple.
- Howard gave King their largest lead of the game, 77-55 when he knocked down a jump shot with five minutes remaining.
- From there, King cruised to the 89-72 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Mays led King with 18 points, going 4-for-8 from three and 7-for-11 from the floor.
- Lamberth added 11 points and five rebounds while Foust chipped in with 190 points.
- Curry led King with six rebounds and added eight points.
- Jordan handed out five assists to go along with eight points.
FOR THE FOES
- Jaylen Prioleau led Erskine with 15 points and eight rebounds.
- RJ Bell followed with 14 and Tyrell Oglesby chipped in with 12 points.

- King stays at home to take on the University of Mount Olive on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
- Erskine travels to Francis Marion University on Saturday afternoon.
