Defense leads King to win at Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va. – The King University men's soccer team used a solid defensive effort, along with well-timed offense to defeat Emory & Henry College on Tuesday evening. The Tornado received goals from three different players in their 3-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • King was on the attack early, taking five shots in the opening 22 minutes, including the first three on frame.
  • Joshua Sanchez may have had the best chance in the 22nd minute has his shot went off the crossbar.
  • The pressure paid off in the 25th minute when Zubair Taylor found Ben Delisle who found the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
  • Emory & Henry tried to turn the field, taking three shots in the final 20 minutes, but Collin Parsons came up with a save on the only attempt that was on target.
  • King extended the lead seven minutes into the second half as Delisle repaid the favor to Taylor.
  • Taylor found the back of the net for the first time in his career, giving King a 2-0 lead in the 62nd minute.
  • Jack Hyatt made three saves in the next 20 minutes for the Tornado, keeping the Wasps off the scoreboard.
  • Carlos Sampedro extended the Tornado lead to 3-0 with his first goal of the season, coming in the 87th minute.
  • Hyatt made one more save to give King the 3-0 victory.

  • The Tornado took 12 shots, placing eight on frame and earned six corner kicks.
  • Parsons made one save and Hyatt made four saves, helping the Tornado to their second shutout of the season.
