BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's tennis team started their season with a 4-3 win at regional rival UVA Wise. Playing with only four players, King took all four singles matches to earn the dual win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In doubles play, Marilyn Roustand and Lauren Smorgonsky earned a 6-4 win over Emily Conn and Sara Nichols.
- However, the Cavaliers won the match at the top flight and earned a win by default at the third flight to take the doubles point.
- UVA Wise won the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches be default, but the Tornado came back.
- Mishka Koricinova got King on the board with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Sarah Moore at No. 2 singles.
- At the top flight, Deniz Aytun dropped the first set 6-0, but bounced back to win the next two sets 6-1, 6-3 to earn the win over Katya Akimenko.
- Smorgonsky evened the tally with a come-from-behind win at the third flight. After dropping the first set to Conn, 6-2, Smorgonsky won the final two sets 6-4, 6-4 to even the dual.
- Roustand clinched the Tornado victory with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Grace Hall at No. 4 singles.

- The Tornado are in action again on Friday at Milligan University. The dual is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
- UVA Wise travels to Emory & Henry College on Saturday.
