BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's tennis team opened the season with a convincing 7-0 win at regional rival UVA Wise.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- King opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches.
- At the top flight, Andre Schiabel and Alex Sodre defeated Jake Ferner and Dominic Hoffman 6-1.
- The No. 2 doubles pair of Pedro Laydner and Rhys Halcrow topped Coleton Burke and Luke Jarnagin 6-0.
- Doubles play concluded with a 6-4 win for Mason Hunt and Kyle Robinson over John Robert Kilgore and Dylan Galenski at the third flight.
- Schiabel got the Tornado on the board in singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Burke at the third flight.
- Laydner followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jarnagin at No. 4 singles.
- At No. 2 singles, Halcrow topped Hoffman 6-2, 6-0, clinching the win for the Tornado.
- Sodre kept the Tornado roll going with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Ferner at the top flight.
- Mat Vieira earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kilgore at the fifth flight before Robinson capped the sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Galenski at No. 6 singles.
