WILSON, N.C. – The King University women's volleyball team earned the first Conference Carolinas win of the season, sweeping Barton College on Friday evening.
Katie Harless posted a double-double to lead the Tornado to the 3-0 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Brittney Ramsey got the Tornado off to a good start with a pair of kills and a solo block as the Tornado opened up a 5-0 lead.
- The King advantage crew to 14-5 following an Abigail Shaffer ace, and a Harless ace stretched the advantage of 17-7.
- Kayley Holtzclaw gave King the 25-13 victory with her second kill of the set.
Second Set
- Back-to-back aces by Hannah Rogers gave King an early 6-2 lead in the second set.
- Barton came back and evened the score at 14, but king scored three straight points to regain the advantage. Holzclaw had a kill on the spurt.
- The score was again even at 20 before consecutive points from the Tornado
- King then scored three of the final four points as a Holzclaw kill gave King the 25-22 win.
Third Set
- Julie Ward and Ramsey started the third set with kills as King opened up a 50 lead.
- A block from Ramsey and Georgia Davis made it a 7-2 advantage.
- An Allie Zimmerman kill followed by a Harless ace stretched the King lead to 19-9 before King held off a late Bulldog rally to take the set 25-16 on a block from Harless and Holzclaw to win the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ramsey led King with eight kills and four blocks while Davis followed with six kills.
- Harless posted 14 assists and a career-high 10 digs for the double-double.
- Shaffer led the defense with 12 digs and added four service aces.
- Hailee Blankenship added 10 digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Caroline Schoonover led Barton with seven kills and four digs.
- Allison Gambill and Kaytlin Elkins followed with six kills each. Gambill added five digs and Eklins accounted for seven digs.
- Sarah Kirk handed out 21 assists and added seven digs.
- Madison Greene posted nine digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The double-double for Harless is the first of her career.
- Blankenship's 10 digs set a career-high.

- King stays on the road to take on the University of Mount Olive at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
