GOLDSBORO, N.C. – The King University men' soccer team earned their first victory of the season on Monday, and it took extra time to get it done.
Ben Delisle found the back of the net in the 101st minute, giving the Tornado the 1-0 win at the University of Mount Olive.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- King had the first two scoring opportunities of the game as Samuel Corredor Rincon ripped a shot that was wide right in the fourth minute and Delisle missed the net to the left in the ninth minute.
- Mount Olive had three shots, but all were off target until the 42nd minute when Dalton Gammon came up with a save to keep the game scoreless.
- Gammon made two more saves early in the second half, coming in the 51st and 60th minutes before King countered with another Delisle shot.
- Zubair Taylor had the best scoring opportunity for the Tornado in the second half, but his shot was turned away in the 84th minute.
- The Tornado shots from Riley Moore and Delisle in the 87th and 88th minutes, but neither was on target.
- Mount Olive made one last charge in regulation, taking a pair of shots in the final minute, the first was blocked by the King defense, and the other went wide.
- Both teams had shots in the first overtime, but both were high of the crossbar, sending the contest to double overtime.
- Only 27 seconds into the second extra session, Ruben Laureano found Delisle who ripped a shot into the back of the net, giving King the 1-0 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- King took nine shots, placing two on goal.
- The goal was Delisle's first of the year and his seventh career game-winning goal.
- Gammon made four saves to post his third career shutout.
FOR THE FOES
- Mount Olive took 14 shots with four being on frame.
- The Trojans also earned 10 corner kicks while holding King to one.

- King wins their first Conference Carolinas opener since 2016 when they defeated Emmanuel 3-2.
