HARROGATE, Tenn. – Following a tough five set, Conference Carolinas road win on Tuesday night, the King University women's volleyball team traveled to take on Lincoln Memorial University in a nonconference tilt on Wednesday night. The Tornado fell to the Railsplitters 3-0.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- King got off to a solid start, taking a 4-1 lead following a Caroline Cable service ace.
- However, the Railsplitters answered with a run, scoring nine of the next 11 points to take a 10-6 lead.
- Back-to-back Tornado points pulled King back within 10-8, but that was as close as King was able to get the rest of the way.
- Lincoln Memorial closed the set on a 15-7 run, taking set 25-15.
Second Set
- The momentum continued for Lincoln Memorial as the Railplitters quickly took a 6-1 lead in the second set.
- The Tornado worked their way back and pulled within 7-6 following back-to-back kills from Abigail Belcher and Kara Miller.
- The teams then traded points before Lincoln Memorial used a 7-1 run to take a 24-15.
- King scored four straight points as Abigale Jayne and Belcher posted consecutive kills, but it wasn't enough as Lincoln Memorial won the set 25-19.
Third Set
- Lincoln Memorial again started hot, opening up an 8-3 lead.
- The Tornado deficit grew to 11-4 as head coach Ryan Booher called for a timeout.
- King then started to chip away at their deficit and Hailee Blankenship served up back-to-back aces that pulled King within 19-16.
- At that point, Lincoln Memorial called four a timeout, and out of the break, the Railplistters scored consecutive points.
- King continued to fight, but it wasn't enough as Lincoln Memorial took the set 25-20, and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Blankenship led King with 10 kills, four digs and two aces.
- Belcher followed with nine kills and a .571 attack percentage. She added three blocks on the defensive end.
- Wines led the back row with 12 digs and Katie Harless handed out 16 assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Kristen Moehring led Lincoln Memorial with 10 kills while Ketura Margaret followed with eight kills.
- Gabriela Abreu accounted for seven kills and eight digs.
- Chloe Britton handed out 20 assists, and Emily Walter handed out 19 helpers.
- Sevgi Koyuncu led the back row with 20 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Wines set a career-high with 12 digs.
- Belchers' nine kills was a career-high.

- The Tornado return home to take on the University of Mount Olive at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
