Box Score TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The King University women's volleyball team may have turned in their best performance of the season, hitting better than .400 in a come-from-behind win at North Greenville University on Wednesday night. The Tornado received 24 kills from Julie Ward as they took the Conference Carolinas tilt 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The North Greenville offense came out firing as the Crusaders hit .312 in the opening set.
- The Crusaders started with a 6-2 lead and closed the 25-21 win with four straight points.
- King dug out of the hole, with a 7-3 run capped by a Tristyn Lozano ace that evened the score at 16.
- However, North Greenville responded with a 5-1 run to regain a 21-17 lead en route to the win.
Second Set
- The Tornado offense responded in the second set with a .583 attack percentage. King put down 14 kills on 24 attempts and didn't make an error in the set.
- For the second straight set, Ward led King with six kills.
- King grabbed the lead with a 5-0 run that was capped by an ace from Cathy Scaniffe that gave King an 11-7 lead.
- The Tornado later closed the 25-14 victory on a 6-1 run.
Third Set
- The King offense continued to run on all cylinders in the third set, making only one error and hitting .389 in the set.
- King dug out of an 8-3 hole to come back and even the score at 10 on a Keri Ricker ace.
- North Greenville used their first timeout as King took a 17-16 lead, and out of the break, Ward extended the King lead to 18-16 with a kill.
- Remi Thele gave King a 20-17 lead and forced the second timeout from the Crusaders.
- Out of the break, Kayley Holtzclaw and Ward came up with a block to extend the Tornado lead.
- The Crusaders tried to come back, but the Tornado took the 25-22 win on a North Greenville miscue.
Fourth Set
- King took their offense to another level in the fourth set, hitting .542.
- Ricker gave King a 3-0 lead with an ace before Thele stretched the lead to 8-2 with a kill.
- Consecutive kills from Lozano and Brittney Ramsey gave King a 13-4 lead and forced North Greenville to take their second timeout of the set.
- King then cruised to the 25-19 victory as a Holtzclaw solo block gave King the 3-1 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Tornado offense hit a blistering .405 in the match, making only nine errors in the contest.
- On the defensive side, King accounted for 11.0 blocks.
- Ward led the attack with 24 kills, making two errors on 38 attempts for a .579 attack percentage. She added six digs and two blocks.
- Thele hit .529 with 10 kills on 17 attempts with just one error.
- Lozano added 11 kills, six digs and three blocks.
- Holzclaw posted a team-high six blocks, two solo, and added five kills.
- Ricker handed out 49 assists and added seven digs while Sydney Pigage posted 13 digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Caroline Forster posted 19 kills and hit .692.
- Eaden Shockley handed out 21 assists and added 10 digs while Whitley Kahler posted 14 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The .405 attack percentage is the best for the Tornado this season and it ranks sixth in program history since becoming NCAA Division II members in 2010.
- King last hit over .400 last season against Bluefield College when they posted a .556 attack percentage.
- Ward's 24 kills in a four-set match ranks second in the NCAA era behind Scaniffe's 25 kills in 2016.
- The .579 attack percentage also ranks fifth for the Tornado in a match in the NCAA era.
- The 11.0 blocks marks the ninth time King has posted at least 10 blocks in a match this season.
