BOONE, N.C. – The King University cycling team closed their regular season at the Appalachian State Mountain Bike Race in their final tune-up for the USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships. The Tornado took home three victories and numerous top-five finishes from the event.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In women's category A, Alyssa Roland won the dual slalom and finished seventh in cross country.
- Kate Dietrich came in fifth in cross country and sixth in short track.
- Jennifer Caicedo also came away with a win, taking first in short track and third in cross country.
- On the men's side, Matthew Owen won the men's category A cross country race and came in runner-up in short track.
- Fausto Crapiz finished fourth in short track and fifth in cross country while Kyle Tiesler finished fourth in cross country and fifth in short track.
- Eric Hubbs came in sixth in short track and eighth in cross country.
- Jameson Simms finished 13th in each cross country and short track and Ben Lightfoot finished 12th in cross country and 17th in short track.
- In men's category B, Dominic Giannantonio posted a fifth place finish in cross country and took 11th in short track.
