King advances to NWCA National Duals final

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The top-ranked King University women's wrestling team continued the pursuit of their third straight NWCA National Duals championship with a victory over fifth-ranked Campbellsville University in the semifinals. The Tornado took the contest 27-14, advancing to take on No. 2 Oklahoma City University in the finals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Tornado got off to a great start with three straight 10-0 technical fall victories. Marina Doi defeated Ruby Ariosa at 101 pounds and Breonnah Neal topped Maria Ramos at 109 pounds before Samantha Klingel gave King a 12-0 lead with win over Kait Fitzpatrick at 116 pounds.
  • The Tigers got on the board and 123 and 130 pounds before Jessi Kee earned an 8-0 decision over No. 5 Rosemary Flores at 136 pounds.
  • At 143 pounds Hannah Jewell stretched the Tornado lead to 19-9 with a 6-5 decision over No. 5 Hanna Gladden.
  • Forrest Molinari took a 3:47 pin over Hanna Hall at 155 pounds, giving King a commanding 24-9 advantage.
  • Following a Campbellsville win at 170 pounds, Jacqueline Williams earned a 10-5 victory over No. 7 Tiaira Scott at 191 pounds, capping the 27-14 victory.

  • The Tornado go for their third straight national duals title this evening when they take on #2 Oklahoma City University in the finals at 4:30 p.m.
