Molinari leads Tornado at Dave Schultz Memorial International

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The King University women's wrestling program had two current members and four former Tornado compete at the Dave Schultz Memorial International on Saturday, and three place. Current Tornado Forrest Molinari finished second at 69 kilograms while former Tornado Sarah Hildebrandt also took a runner-up finish at 53 kilograms.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Molinari went 2-1 on the day at 69 kilograms, taking pinning Ida Bernstein and Michelle Organ. She pinned Bernstein in 2:131 and Organ in 3:13. She then dropped a 4-1 decision to Brittney Roberts in the finals.
  • At 53 kilograms, Hildebrandt earned a 6-2 decision over Jessica Medina before defeating Jade Parsons on a 12-1 technical fall to reach the finals. She then dropped a 4-2 decision in the finals to Katherine Fulp-Allen.
  • Former Tornado Amanda Hendey took a third place finish at 63 kilograms, going 3-1 on the day. She pinned Hannah Golden in 1:07 to start the day before falling to eventual champion Anastasija Grigorjeva in the semifinals. Hendey then defeated Mallory Velte 3-1 before topping Breanne Graham on a 14-2 technical fall to take third.
  • Julia Salata reached the semifinals before an injury ended her day at 69 kilograms.
  • Breonnah Neal, at 48 kilograms and Lorrie Ramos, at 69 kilograms also competed for the Tornado, and dropped both of their bouts.

UP NEXT

  • King will be in action again on February 12-13 when the go for their third straight WCWA national championship. The WCWA National Championships are scheduled to take place in Oklahoma City, Okla.
