Tornado draw with Tornados in weather shortened contest

BREVARD, N.C. – In a contest with namesakes for both teams having connotations to weather it was only fitting the King University women's soccer game at Brevard College would be called due to weather. The Tornado and the Tornados played 76 minutes to a 1-1 draw before the contest was called due to lightning.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Tornado got on the board early in the 14th minute when Kara Garrett took a pass from Miranda Smith to put King ahead.
  • King controlled play in the first half, ripping nine shots to Brevard's four. King placed three of their shots on goal while the Tornados were unable to put any shots on target
  • Olivia Drake kept the Tornado in the lead with a save in the 55th minute.
  • King outshot Brevard 12-7 in the contest, placing five shots on frame while the Tornados put two shots on goal.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Tornados got on the board in the 65th minute when Anita Maryskova netted the equalizer with an assist to Caroline David.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The goal for Garrett marks her first career tally as she played in her second game in the Scarlet and Navy.
  • Smith handed out her second assist in as many games this season, she leads the Tornado with four points.
