Box Score BRISTOL, Tenn. – Opening on the road, the King University women's soccer team came away with a good result at Mars Hill. The Tornado used four first half goals to win their second straight season opener, topping the Lions 4-2 on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- King struck first in the fifth minute when Rachel Thorpe netted her first goal of the season on a rebound opportunity following a McKenzie Clarke shot.
- The Lion then netted the next two goals of the game to grab the lead in the 24th minute.
- Miranda Smith didn't waste any time evening the tally when she ripped a shot from 15 yards out off the left post and in.
- Kendyl Baird gave King the lead with an assist to Hulda Sigurdardottir in the 28th minute.
- Four minutes later Sigurdardottir stretched the Tornado advantage when she took a pass from Smith a ripped a shot off the crossbar and in from 18 yards out.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The win marks King's first victory in a road season opener since 2011 when they topped Brevard 2-0.
- King had four different goal scorers find the back of the net for the first time since October 4, 2014. The Tornado accomplished that feat twice a season.
- Olivia Drake earned the win in goal for the Tornado, her third victory of her career.
FOR THE FOES
- Paige Thompson had a hand in both Lion goals, scoring the first one in the 14th minute and adding assist on Breona Tate's goal in the 24th minute.
- Goalkeeper Maslyn Greene made 12 saves to keep Mars Hill close.

- King travels to Brevard College for a 2:00 p.m., kickoff on Saturday.
- Mars Hill will take to the road for the first time this season on Saturday when they take on Shorter University at 2:00 p.m.
