BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's tennis team got back into the win column by taking their second straight Conference Carolinas victory Tuesday afternoon. The Tornado gained the advantage by taking two of the doubles matches, can capped the 6-3 win over Belmont Abbey College with four wins in singles play.
Luis Delgado and Moritz Poswiat defeated Conner McMann and Juan Baez of Belmont Abbey (8-13, 2-5 CC) 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Makar Grytsevych and Ankith Madasani topped Gabriel Tromini and Will Beze 8-5 at No. 3 doubles to give King 2-1 advantage after doubles.
Madasani extended the lead with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles over Beze before the Tornado (5-10, 4-4 CC) earned two wins in three sets and the third in a tiebreak. Poswiat took a 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) over Baez at No. 2 singles before Delgado clinched the Tornado victory with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 comeback win over James Delaney at No. 3 singles. Grytsevych made it a 6-3 King win when he topped Tromini 6-4, 3-6, 10-4.
King will be in action again on April 11 when they travel to Limestone College. First serve is slated for 1:00 p.m.
