Tornado in 11th after two rounds of Bearcat Invite

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The King University men's golf team stayed hot in the first round of the Bearcat Invitational, but they cooled off in the second round. The Tornado were in second place after a first round of 285, but dropped to 11th after carding a 293 in the second. Leennawat Numpituckchaikul came within one of the school record with a first round of 67, and is tied for third with a two round score of 139.

Coming off his first tournament win, Numpituckchaikul shot five-under 67 in the first round, and followed it with an even-par 72 in the second round for a total of 139. That score lands the junior in third place, four shots back of the leader. Taylor Gouge also posted a round under par, carding a 71 in the first round, before shooting 74 in the second round for a total of 145.

Mathias Bunaes wasn't far behind, shooting 74 in the opening round before shooting an even-par 72 in the second round to come in with a total of 146. John Scott shot 73 in first round before carding 75 in the second round for a total of 148, and Ross Maietta rounded out the squad carding 79 in the first round and 75 in the second round for a total of 154.

The Tornado are in 11th place with a tournament score of two-over 578 with one round remaining. Flagler College holds the two round lead with a score of 21-under 555 while Georgia College is second at 565. Belmont Abbey College is third at 570, and Columbus State University is fourth with a score of 571.

The tournament concludes with the third and final round on Tuesday.
