ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The King University men's tennis team took their first Conference Carolinas win yesterday, and on Sunday the Tornado face NCAA Division I foe UNC Asheville. King played a couple close matches, but the Bulldogs ultimately prevailed for the 7-0 victory.
At No. 2 doubles, the King (2-5) tandem of Lenny Keswani and Seth Carelli dropped a tight 7-5 decision to Reid Dillon and Daniel Kripak. The Bulldogs (5-1) won the No. 1 doubles match 6-0 to take the doubles point.
In singles play, Keswani played a stellar match at the top flight against Kripak, taking the first set 7-6 (8-6). However, Kripak came back to take the second set 7-6 (7-4) and the final set 10-8. Moritz Poswiat fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles while Carelli dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 3 singles. Makar Grytsevych fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles as the Bulldogs went on to take the dual.
King (1-4) will be in action again on February 20 when they host Pfeiffer University in a Conference Carolinas match. The dual is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
