King tops Emmanuel 5-4 to open conference play

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The early spring matches King University men's tennis team played against division I opponents paid off as the Tornado opened Conference Carolinas play with a win on Saturday. The Tornado opened up with a 5-4 win at Emmanuel College.

In doubles, the Tornado (2-4, 1-0 CC) earned wins at the top two flights. Moritz Poswiat and Makar Grytsevych started the day with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, and Seth Carelli and Lennard Keswani followed with an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles. Emmanuel (0-1, 0-1 CC) took the final doubles match by default.

In singles play, Poswiat started with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 win over Lucas Pereira at the top flight, and Keswani followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Louis Maiejka. Ankith Reddy Madasani clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Tyler Terrell at No. 5 singles. Emmanuel took a wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles before taking No. 6 singles by default to make the final 5-4 in favor of King.

King will be in action again tomorrow when they take on NCAA Division I opponent UNC Asheville. The dual is slated to start at 12:00 p.m.
