Falcons top King 9-0

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's tennis team was back in action on Friday, indoors at the Country Club of Bristol when they hosted Pfeiffer University. However, the Falcons came away with the 9-0 Conference Carolinas victory.

The Falcons (5-1, 1-0 CC) took all three doubles matches, starting with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. The King (1-5, 1-1 CC) duo of Katya Cerny and Haley Maloney won the first set over Olivia Nelms and Hannah Watson at No. 1 doubles, but the Falcon pair responded to take the 8-1 win.

In singles play, Cerny fell to Nelms 6-0, 6-1 at the top flight and Nia Gilliam dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Taylor Lindsay at No. 2 singles. All the other singles matches went in favor of the Falcons 6-0, 6-0.

King will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to Erskine College. First serve is slated for 1:00 p.m. in Due West, S.C.
