Tornado come back to defeat Limestone 22-21

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The King University men's wrestling team feel behind Limestone College early, but the Tornado did give up as they overcame a 15 point deficit to come back and take the road victory. King won the final four bouts of the dual, including a win by fall from Garrett Fosdyck at 285 pounds to give the Tornado the 22-21 win over the Saints.

The teams traded forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds before Limestone went on a run. The Saints took three straight wins by decision to open up a 15-6 lead before taking another victory by forfeit at 165 pounds. However, the Tornado got rolling at the point as they trailed 21-6 with four bouts remaining.

Senior Trevor Wentt started the run with an 8-2 decision over Matthew Ostermiller at 174 pounds. Jesse Masters followed at 184 pounds with a 14-5 major decision over Caleb Rivera to pull King within 21-13. The 197-pound bout went to overtime, and Eldon Valery, Jr. earned a takedown to take the narrow 3-1 victory over Justin Tribble to pull King within striking range at 21-16. Fosdyck didn't waste any time as the senior earned a win by fall over Cody VandeLinde in 1:18 to give the Tornado the 22-21 victory.

King will be in action again on Sunday when they travel to the Maryville University Dr. Mark Lombardi Duals. The Tornado will face #4 Ouachita Baptist University at 1:00 p.m. (ET), followed by a matchup with #8 McKendree University at 3:00 p.m. (ET). The day concludes with a match against the University of Indianapolis at 5:00 p.m. (ET).
