Trojans come back to top King

ANDERSON, S.C. – The King University men's wrestling team returned to action when they traveled to take on Anderson University in dual on Thursday night. The Tornado held a lead, but the Trojans came storming back to take the dual 28-21.

Starting the night at 184 pounds, Jesse Masters gave King (1-3) an early 3-0 lead with 5-4 vicory over Michael Gallagher. The Trojans (10-9) rebounded with a win by fall at 197 pounds to take their first lead. However, senior Garrett Fosdyck answered for the Tornado with a win by fall at 285 pounds, defeating Wyatt McCrackin in 1:20.

Jon Boatman stretched the King lead to 12-6 with a 3-2 win over Tyler Fitzpatrick at 125 pounds. Anderson evened the match with a win by forfeit at 133 pounds before Frank Yattoni IV earned a win by fall in 1:00 over Charlton Clark at 141 pounds to give King an 18-12 lead. The Trojans then took back-to-back wins by fall at 149 and 157 pounds to gain a 24-18 lead.

Kody Eichlin then gave the Tornado a chance at a comeback with a 3-2 victory over Jared Costa at 165 pounds to cut the King deficit to 24-21 with one bout remaining. However, Anderson won the final bout 16-2 at 174 pounds to take the come-from-behind win 28-21.

King will be in action again on January 30-31 at the Super Region II Duals in Tiffin, Ohio.
