Avila, Brigato Lead Tornado to Victory

Rodrigo Avila and Leo Brigato swept through their matches on both the singles and doubles sides in a 6-3 victory over Milligan College, Friday afternoon.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Men's Tennis went down the road to Johnson City, Tenn. to play the Milligan Buffaloes in a nonconference meeting. The Tornado dominated the singles flights while Leo Brigato and Rodrigo Avila teamed up for a combined three victories. The men improve to 3-1 to close out the fall season.

King (3-1) took victories in five of six singles matches against the Buffaloes. The Tornado top four all won their matches, including Leo Brigato (Sao Paolo, Brazil) who delivered a 6-0, 6-0 defeat to his opponent. William Boyce (Nesles le Vallee, France) won his first collegiate singles match, coming from behind after dropping the opening set for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 win.

Rodrigo Avila and Leo Brigato each won all three of the matches they combined to participate in. After sweeping their singles matches, the duo teamed up for an 8-6 victory in their doubles match. It was the only doubles victory the Tornado won.

The Tornado have ended their fall season and will not compete until mid-February, when they host Mars Hill. They are currently 3-1 overall after the fall portion of the schedule.
