Overtime goal dooms Tornado Soccer in NCCAA Mid-East semifinals

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - King College suffered another 1-0 defeat in overtime, this time in the NCCAA Mid-South Men's Soccer Semifinals against Campbellsville (Ky.) University in a contest played in Lookout Mountain, Ga. Friday.

The Tornado's season comes to an end at 6-12-1. King, the event's No. 3 seed, was defeated eight times this season with similar 1-0 results.

Campbellsville's Casey Clarks put the ball into the upper corner from 25 yards out in the 92nd minute.

Friday's match was the fourth overtime contest for King with the Tornado posting a 0-3-1 record this season.

Campbellsville, the No. 2 seed, will take a 16-5 record to play Oakland City (Ind.) University, the No. 4 seed, who upended top-seed and host Covenant (Ga.) College in penalty kicks on Saturday for the region crown. After the two teams played for 110 minutes tied at 2-2, Oakland City won a shootout 5-4 and the two teams needed to go past five shots. Covenant needed a goal in the final five minutes of regulation to force the extra time.

Overall King had eight shots, three on goal. Campbellsville had 17 shots total, seven on goal.
